49. The view from the Reichstag

At the end of our first full day in Berlin we met to ascend the Reichstag, which not only houses the German Parliament but also has an amazing glass domed observation deck. From the top of the dome and also outside on the roof we were able to look out on the entire city which was lit up at sunset by an array of neon lights and (just our luck) a rainbow.

One Year Later/ Leo's Top 50

To celebrate the one year anniversary of our trip to Europe, I am presenting Leo's Top 50 things about the trip (with the pictures that we promised you). So let's start things off with numero 50.

50. The Eternal Mary- On the beach in Biarritz(France), we saw this shining beacon of light out on the rock outcropping. I said it looked like an eternal flame because I was probably fantasizing about The Bangles. Nevertheless, we went to investigate. Instead it was a statue of the Virgin Mary breathtakingly lit by spotlights. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of it, but check out the link above to get the idea. Also, here are some of the rock outcroppings and a view from the beach of an Atlantic sunset.
